It can be challenging to find new and innovative ways to connect with your audience. To catch their attention and draw them in to your narrative, persuading them to buy from you. The move to digital marketing has meant a lot of changes in the way people approach marketing, and this has only made it more difficult. But it’s not all doom and gloom. Harnessing the untapped power of drones could propel your marketing into a new level – one that will put you leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. Want to know how? Read on.

But first…

But How Do Drones Work?

Or rather, the magic of it. After all, it was Arthur C Clarke who said that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. But for the more logically minded, it may help to rename magic to “sensor fusion” which is defined as: “combining of sensory data or data derived from disparate sources such that the resulting information has less uncertainty than would be possible when these sources were used individually.”

Which all sounds very fancy, but it could also mean absolutely nothing to you. An example might help bring it together. Most modern cars are fitted with anti-lock brakes, which work by using a variety of sensors and miniature computers to achieve better results than a human driver could. The sensors track data like the slippage of the tyres, the steering angle and all sorts of other things, and the anti-lock computer uses all of this data to make decisions that help your car on the road. Apply that to a drone, and the computer needs to be able to control a huge range of things, including:

  • The GPS – which helps determine the position of the drone
  • A barometer – which measures the pressure in the air and helps the drone know its altitude above the ground.
  • Sonar sensors and a bottom, facing camera – which help advanced models to know where the ground is when it’s within 9 feet of the ground.
  • Accelerometers – sense whether it is moving through the air.
  • A gyroscope – helps keep the drone body level during flight.
  • A compass – so it knows which way it’s pointing.

All of these inputs and gathered, tracked and consolidated by a central computer, and results in stable flight, ease of control and the ability to see the world from a completely different point of view. All you need to do then is attach a camera to the bottom of a drone, and you can take some fantastic ariel pictures and videos. This is great for venues with expansive grounds, events like weddings and conferences and even creating cinematic advertising material.

Boost Your Marketing

Provide A Memorable Web Experience: Drone footage is captivating, no matter what the subject matter, and people love to talk about it. Word of mouth marketing is one of our most powerful tools as businesses, and drone video gives you the perfect opportunity to get people talking about your brand. Use drone videos in the right way, and you can create a truly memorable web experience for your users.

Stand Out From The Competition: Many industry leaders and marketing professionals have already mastered using video as a marketing tactic, with unparalleled success. But not everyone has cottoned on to the extra success drone video can bring. This means forward thinking businesses can get a significant head start on the competition.

Tell Better Stories: One of the best ways to use drones for video marketing is to tell a complete story, capturing shots that would not be possible without drone technology. For example, sports teams can capture the athlete from above, a retailer the rush of eager customers coming into their stores, or a construction crew bringing a new project to life.

Of course, you need a professional grade drone in order to create effective drone marketing, as well as some specialist equipment like a camera gimbal to keep the camera stable and prevent shaking. You also need a special kind of license to be able to film commercially with a drone, which is where we come in. At Swanwood Productions, we have spent many years mastering the art of drone videography, so that we can bring it’s advantages to you. If you’re interested in using drone video to boost your marketing, we would love to help. Just get in touch with our team today for your free consultation and complimentary cup of tea.
